Three ACC teams are ranked in the first AP Top 25 for the 2015 season. Florida State leads the way at No. 10 while Clemson is ranked No. 12 and Georgia Tech is No. 16. ACC partner Notre Dame is ranked No. 11.

Ohio State received 62 first place votes and is the unanimous No. 1. The the defending national champion Buckeyes open on the road in ACC territory with Virginia Tech.

The ACC is tied with the Big Ten and Big 12 for number of ranked teams. The SEC dominates with eight clubs while The Pac-12 has six. Notre Dame is the only independent ranked.
Virginia Tech, Louisville and NC State were among the teams also receiving votes.
Generally speaking, preseason polls don’t mean much — though they do set the table for the kind of difficulty a team has to start qualifying for a playoff berth.
