Florida State Picked to Win in Preseason ACC Media Poll

The ACC released its annual preseason media poll Monday and the Florida State Seminoles were favored to win the conference.

The poll was taken of 167 members of the sporting press during last week’s 2017 ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, N.C.

The Seminoles were the runaway favorites to win the conference, receiving 118 championship votes. Clemson was second in the poll with 35. The voting for division favorites was much closer.

Florida State finished atop the Atlantic Division predictions with 1,108 points with Clemson second at 1,007. Louisville finished third with 843 points.

In the Coastal Division, Miami was picked to finish first with 1,065 points. Virginia Tech was second (932 points), followed by Georgia Tech (708 points) and Pittsburgh (673 points). Six of the seven teams in the Coastal Division received at least one first place vote, with only Virginia being left out.

It’s no suprise that 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson was selected as the preseason Player of the Year. He was the dominant pick followed by Florida State quarterback Deandre Francois and Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.
