Three ACC Teams Ranked in Preseason Coaches Poll

USA Today Coaches PollThe USA Today released their preseason Coaches Poll, and the ACC has three teams ranked in the top 25.

Florida State leads the way at #7, the second year in a row the Seminoles have been highly ranked by the coaches in the preseason. Last year, FSU was #5 in the preseason.

Clemson has a #14 ranking, the first time the Tigers have been preseason-ranked by the coaches since 2008.

Virginia Tech comes in at #20, giving the Hokies their eighth straight preseason coaches ranking. Virginia Tech has been preseason-ranked every year since 2005, the longest current streak in the ACC.

Since ACC expansion to 11 teams in 2004 (and 12 in 2005), the conference has had at least one preseason top ten team in the coaches poll.

The three ranked teams represent an improvement over last preseason’s two (FSU #5, VT #13), but the conference has had as many as five teams preseason-ranked since the 2004 expansion to 11 teams.

  • 2004 (5): Miami #5, FSU #6, Clemson #16, Virginia #19, Maryland #20
