Are the Miami Hurricanes Truly Coastal Division Favorites?

The Miami Hurricanes were selected by the media last week as ACC Preseason Coastal Division favorites. The Hurricanes have not won the Coastal Division since joining the ACC in 2004.

Miami returns much of their talent on offense, but will be looking to replace QB Brad Kaaya, who declared for the NFL Draft at the conclusion of last season. Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry are both in the hunt for the starting quarterback job, and will have a bevy of talent at their disposal, including running back Mark Walton and rising sophomore receiver Ahmmon Richards.

On defense, the Hurricanes should be as talented as any team in the Coastal, boasting many returning starters on that side of the football. The health of the linebackers has been a concern over the last few seasons, and if they are able to avoid the injury bug, the Hurricanes should be extremely competitive on that side of the ball.

It is a wide open Coastal Division with so many question marks at quarterback across the board. Will the Hurricanes ultimately prevail?

Mark Rogers joins Cam Underwood of SB Nation’s State of the U to discuss.
