2015 ACC Football Preview: Virginia Tech

2014 Record: 7-6 (3-5 ACC)

Returning Starters: Offense-8 Defense-8

Key Players: Michael Brewer, Kendall Fuller, Dadi Nicolas, Isaiah Ford, Bucky Hodges

The Hokies once again have what should be one of the top defensive units in the nation, but there are questions about the offense and the team’s overall depth at some key positions. Quarterback Michael Brewer enters his second and final season in Blacksburg as the unquestioned signal-caller, and he has a full offseason under his belt with offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler’s system. That coupled with a more athletic offensive line could be enough to improve the underwhelming results of last season though the team lacks proven depth at receiver and tailback due to injuries and attrition.

On defense, Tech lacks depth at defensive tackle and linebacker. They also have to replace C.J. Reavis who was set to start at whip linebacker but was dismissed from school after a University disciplinary hearing didn’t go in his favor. Brandon Facyson is back from injury at the corner spot opposite all-everything corner Kendall Fuller. This team could certainly struggle to qualify for a bowl game once again, but there’s also the potential for a very high ceiling for this group.
