ACC Baseball: Miami and Virginia Ready for Omaha

Only two ACC schools qualified for the 2015 College World Series in the Miami Hurricanes and Virginia Cavaliers. Miami has put together yet another dominant season posting a 49-15 overall record and backing up their No. 5 seed in this tournament with strong performances throughout the tournament as expected. The Cavaliers (39-22) however are a big surprise.

UVA just barely made it into the ACC Tournament with a record hovering around .500 at the end of the regular season. but the ‘Hoos have made the most of their opportunity by getting hot at the right time and making an unexpected march to Omaha by posting a perfect 5-0 record.

Both teams are on the same side of the bracket along with the Arkansas Razorbacks and Florida Gators. Virginia faces Arkansas at 3 p.m. Saturday with Miami against Florida in the game to follow. Both contests can be seen on ESPN.

At this point the tournament is double-elimination with the winner of each four-team bracket squaring off in a three-game series to determine the national champion.

This marks Virginia’s fourth appearance in the College World Series with the ‘Hoos seeking the program’s first title. Miami has won four national championships with the most recent coming in 2001.
