ACC Football: Georgia Tech and Boston College to Square Off In Ireland To Open 2016

In a big announcement this morning, two representatives of the Atlantic Coast Conference are slated to play in Ireland to open the 2016 football season. On September 3rd, 2016, Boston College and Georgia Tech will meet in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

While a time is still officially listed as TBA, the game is scheduled to be nationally televised on ESPN2. When the game takes place a little over a year from now, it will be the third time in four years that an FBS game has taken place in Ireland. The other two meetings were Notre Dame Vs. Navy in September of 2012, and Penn State Vs. Central Florida in August of 2014. It will also be the first time the ACC has been represented in a game played in Ireland, which is no doubt a big step forward for the conference as a whole.
